Warranty Policy

At M.A.L. Battery Distributors (Pty) Ltd,  we take pride in supplying quality products backed by trusted manufacturer warranties. Each product carries its own individual warranty period and terms, as provided by the respective manufacturer.

All warranties are carry-in only and must be processed at our premises. or a facility that has been confirmed by a staff member of the MAL Group. Courier collections and returns or on-site assessments are not covered under warranty.

1. General Warranty Terms
  • M.A.L. Battery Distributors (Pty) Ltd is a supplier only and does not perform installations or technical services.

  • All installations and technical applications must be completed by a qualified solar or technician/installer.

  • We will not be held liable for any damages, faults, or losses resulting from improper installation, configuration, or use.

  • Using unqualified installers or operating products outside manufacturer recommendations will void the warranty.

2. Warranty Assessment Process

All warranty assessments are conducted in accordance with manufacturer testing procedures and may take between 1-10 business days, this is dependent on product type, brand and process queue.

If required, the product may be sent to the manufacturer for further evaluation. Manufacturer assessments typically take two or more weeks, depending on availability and testing queues.

Customers must provide:

  • Original proof of purchase (invoice or delivery note)

  • Product serial number

  • Any supporting documents (e.g. installation certificate, inverter data logs, system photos)

3. Product-Specific Warranty Conditions

Batteries

  • Batteries must operate within the manufacturer’s recommended parameters.

  • Improper charging, deep discharge, sulphation, or overheating will void warranty coverage.

  • Cycling and solar batteries generally carry a 6-month warranty for cycling applications unless otherwise stated.

  • Automotive batteries must be brought in with the vehicle for accurate load testing.

Inverters and Solar Equipment

  • Must be installed by a licensed and certified professional.

  • Warranty claims must include the Certificate of Compliance (CoC), installation images including protection and cabling, and serial number.

  • Labour, transport, and courier costs are not covered.

  • Using incompatible batteries or protection devices voids the warranty.

4. Warranty Exclusions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Labour, travel, or transport costs.

  • Consequential damages or loss of income.

  • Incorrect installation, wiring, or application.

  • Misuse, abuse, negligence, or unauthorised modification.

  • Lightning, power surges, or environmental damage.

  • Products left discharged for extended periods or subject to sulphation.

  • Accidental or deliberate damage, or third-party claims.

5. Returns and Refunds

  • Written authorisation is required within 5 working days of purchase for any return.

  • A minimum 20% handling fee applies to returned goods.

  • Items must be returned in original packaging, in both aesthetic and working condition.

  • Refunds may be processed by EFT and are subject to standard payment cycles.

  • Engraved or customised items may incur additional deductions due to reduced resale value.

6. Ownership of Goods

All goods remain the property of M.A.L. Battery Distributors (Pty) Ltd until payment has been made in full. Ownership transfers only upon full settlement.

7. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for:

  • Reviewing individual manufacturer warranty terms for each product.

  • Operating all goods within recommended conditions and specifications.

  • Retaining proof of purchase and installation documentation.

  • Requesting replacement warranty information if lost or misplaced.

8. Important Notes

  • Testing and warranty turnaround times vary depending on manufacturer policies.

  • Warranties are non-transferable and apply to original purchasers only.

  • Products replaced or repaired under warranty retain the original purchase warranty period, unless otherwise stated also known s balance of warranty.

9. Technical Support

  • MAL Group operates as a sales and distribution entity. Our staff members are not qualified technicians and therefore cannot provide detailed technical or installation advice. It remains the customer’s responsibility to ensure that they have obtained and understood all necessary technical information before purchasing or installing any product.

  • Should you require product-specific documentation such as datasheets, user manuals, or installation guides, these can be requested from a MAL Group sales representative prior to purchase or use. MAL Group cannot be held liable for any damages, faults, or product failures arising from incorrect installation or misuse resulting from a lack of technical knowledge or documentation.
